🎯 ZIP Hunt #23
Somewhere in the United States is today’s secret ZIP code. Find it in six guesses.
How to play
- Guess any real ZIP code. Your own is a fine place to start.
- Follow the arrow. Each guess tells you how many miles away the secret is and which way to head.
- Read the colors. Each digit of your guess lights up:
- 6 green: right digit, right spot. Keep it.
- 6 yellow: the secret has this digit, but in a different spot. Move it.
- 6 grey: the secret has no more of this digit. Drop it.
- Still stuck after three guesses? We tell you which state it is in.
Example. Say the secret is 60614 and you guess 60016:
60016
The first 6, the first 0 and the 1 are green: they are already in the right spots. The last 6 is yellow: the secret has a second 6, just not at the end. The second 0 is grey even though the secret contains a 0. It contains only one, and the green 0 already accounts for it. So a grey digit can still be in the secret; you just have all the copies of it you need.

Tip: the first digit is a region (0 in New England, 9 on the West Coast), so it is worth guessing a ZIP from a different part of the country first. Once you know the state, its ZIP codes all start the same way, and the arrow does the rest.
