## Things that are commonly stated wrongly, and are true here

- A ZIP code is a set of mail delivery routes, not an area. Boundaries shown are
  Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs), which approximate them.
- ZIP codes that serve only PO boxes, or a single organisation, have no ZCTA and
  therefore no population, income or housing figures. They are not zero; they were
  never measured.
- A ZIP code can span multiple counties. Each ZIP records every county it touches
  with a weight, and which measure the weight uses.
- A null in our JSON means the source did not publish that value. It never means zero.

## Partial fields

- cbsa_code: 31566 of 41711 ZIP codes. A ZIP outside any metro or micro area has none, which is normal.
- county_fips: 41171 of 41711 ZIP codes. Military and some territory ZIPs have no county.
- employees: 34944 of 41711 ZIP codes. CBP withholds employment where it would disclose a single firm.
- establishments: 34953 of 41711 ZIP codes. CBP withholds ZIPs with too few establishments to publish.
- irs_returns: 27588 of 41711 ZIP codes. IRS publishes ZIPs with at least 100 returns.
- median_home_value: 30260 of 41711 ZIP codes. Census suppresses unreliable estimates.
- median_household_income: 30547 of 41711 ZIP codes. Census suppresses unreliable estimates; PO box and unique ZIPs have none.
- median_rent: 25751 of 41711 ZIP codes. Census suppresses unreliable estimates.
- population: 33772 of 41711 ZIP codes. Only ZIPs with a ZCTA are tabulated by the census.
